Visiting / chance to see,
Bunratty Castle is the most complete and authentic medieval fortress in Ireland. Built in 1425 it was restored in 1954 to its former medieval splendour and now contains mainly 15th and 16th century furnishings, tapestries, and works of art which capture the mood of those times.
The Cliffs of Moher are Irelands most visited natural attraction with a magical vista that captures the hearts of up to one million visitors every year. Standing 214m (702 feet) at their highest point they stretch for 8 kilometres (5 miles) along the Atlantic coast of County Clare in the west of Ireland. From the Cliffs of Moher on a clear day one can see the Aran Islands and Galway Bay, as well as the Twelve Pins and the Maum Turk mountains in Connemara, Loop Head to the south and the Dingle Pensinula and Blasket Islands in
Kerry. OBriens Tower stands near the highest point and has served as a viewing point for visitors for hundreds of years.
The Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum tells about the brave world of transatlantic air travel. Learn about the history of the flying boats in an authentic 1940s cinema, and marvel at the only Boeing B314 replica in the world. The museum also showcases the original terminal building, radio and weather room, complete with transmitters, receivers and Morse code equipment. Foynes was also where Irish Coffee was invented.
Dublin, capital of the Republic of Ireland, is on Irelands east coast at the mouth of the River Liffey. Its historic buildings include Dublin Castle, dating to the 13th century, and imposing St Patricks Cathedral, founded in 1191. City parks include landscaped St Stephens Green and huge Phoenix Park, containing Dublin Zoo.
