Nestled on the banks of the River Wye, Bakewell is the largest town in the Peak District National Park. Its charming stone buildings, a

beautiful medieval five-arched stone bridge and lovely courtyards make it a favourite spot for painters, photographers and anyone who

loves to explore. There’s a story that the town’s famous Bakewell Pudding was accidentally made by a local cook in the mid-1800s. Now,

you can enjoy her delicious ‘jam tart that went wrong’ at many bakeries and cafés and share it with people all over the world!

The Buxton Crescent Experience is a unique, allweather visitor attraction set within the beautifully restored Grade I listed Buxton

interactive displays. Using a blend of media, handson exhibits, and digital technology, the attraction brings Buxton’s spa heritage and

water story vividly to life. Your visit includes our famous virtual reality hotair balloon flight over Georgian Buxton, the chance to rub

shoulders with Regency high society at a glamorous ball, and a consultation with our 18thcentury apothecary. You’ll also follow

rainwater on its 5,000year journey through the Peak District hills and discover why Buxton’s natural spring water emerges warm beneath

the Crescent. You can even bottle the water straight from the source to take home. The Buxton Crescent Experience is perfect for families,

history lovers, and curious visitors. Children will enjoy the interactive elements and discovery trails, while history enthusiasts can delve

deeper into the stories that shaped Buxton’s spa town identity.

Your Buxton Crescent Experience will be followed by a delicious afternoon tea at the nearby Palace Hotel with sandwiches, fruit scones

with jam & clotted cream, mini cakes and a pot of tea / coffee.
