A new production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will open at the London Coliseum for a strictly limited

run from 4 June 2027 through 18 September 2027.

Olivier Award winner Michael Ball will star as Willy Wonka in the production. His other theatre credits include

his Olivier-winning turns in Sweeney Todd and Hairspray, where he starred as Edna Turnblad in the original

West End company, as well as Les Misérables – The Staged Concert, Chess, Mack and Mabel, and Chitty

Chitty Bang Bang.

Based on the novel by Roald Dahl and the film, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory follows Charlie Bucket as he

goes on the adventure of a lifetime after finding a golden ticket that gives him access to Wonka's extraordinary

chocolate factory.

With an original score by Marc Shaiman, with lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, and book by David

Greig, the musical will be directed by Curve Artistic Director Nikolai Foster.

The rest of the creative team includes choreography by Ebony Molina, set design by Leslie Travers, costume

design by Katrina Lindsey, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Adam Fisher, video design by

George Reeve, wigs, hair and make-up design by Campbell Young Associates, illusion design by Chris Fisher,

puppet design by Rachael Canning, musical supervision by Stephen Brooker, orchestration adaptations by

George Dyer, and musical direction by Isaac McCullough.
