Ilfracombe is the premier resort in North Devon, situated between the breathtaking scenery of Exmoor to the east and the spectacular beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe to the west. To enjoy Ilfracombe’s wonderful landscape, dont forget to upgrade to a room with a view.

Ilfracombe is the premier resort in North Devon, situated between the breathtaking scenery of Exmoor to the east and the spectacular beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe to the west. The town nestles amongst the hills of Capstone and Hillsborough which overlook the picture perfect harbour. There are plenty of local shops and the regional centre, Barnstaple, with its remarkable Pannier Market, is a short drive away. Boat trips operate to magical Lundy Island and a trip to nearby Lynton and Lynmouth - the Little Switzerland of England - with their unique connecting water operated cliff railway is a 'must' during your stay.

Near to the hotel are the famous Tunnels Beaches and the shingle and pebble beach at Wildersmouth. Further afield we find the breathtaking beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde. Destination: English Riviera

Staying at the: Metropole Hotel, Torquay

Torquay is one of Britain's most famous resorts, situated at the heart of 22 miles of unspoilt coastline known as the 'English Riviera' because of its mild climate, sparkling blue waters, blue-flag beaches, attractive gardens and palm tree lined seafront. Torquay has been fashionable since Victorian times and is the former home of Elizabeth Barrett Browning as well as crime author Agatha Christie. It offers variety, day and night, from its bustling harbour and marina to its exclusive shops, sophisticated restaurants and bars. Torquay's spectacular modernised waterfront provides a continental atmosphere with its attractive cafes and shops, luxury yachts and beautiful footbridge across the inner harbour.

Torbay has excellent bathing beaches at Babbacombe, Torre Abbey and Paignton. Torre Abbey Gardens make a pleasant walk along the seafront from the hotel.

The heart of the town is the harbour which has many shops along its edges. The Metropole Hotel is situated a short uphill walk from the harbour side. The town features a variety of shops, bars, cafes and a wealth of attractions
