Excursion by coach to some of these places on the island,

Newport

Newport is the county town of the Isle of Wight, an island county off the south coast of England. It is in the civil parish of Newport and Carisbrooke, The town is slightly north of the centre of the island Ryde is an English seaside town and civil parish on the north-east coast of the Isle of Wight.

Cowes

Cowes is an English seaport town and civil parish on the Isle of Wight. Cowes is located on the west bank of the estuary of the River Medina, facing the smaller town of East Cowes on the east bank. The two towns are linked by the Cowes Floating Bridge, a chain ferry

Ryde

Paul McCartney recently confirmed what many had long suspected—The Beatles’ hit “Ticket to Ride” was inspired by a trip he and John Lennon took to Ryde in the early sixties. It’s a quirky claim to fame, and just one of the many fascinating stories behind the Isle of Wight’s largest town.

Ryde is a vibrant destination that blends golden sands, independent shopping, lively nightlife, and a strong creative spirit, making it a brilliant choice for a holiday. It’s also the hometown of the late Oscar-winning film director Anthony Minghella, and renowned journalist and author Philip Norman.

As the gateway to the East of our island, Ryde boasts excellent links to the mainland, making it the perfect starting point for exploring the rest of our island. So, if you’re ready to explore the Isle of Wight, be sure to carve out time for your very own Ticket to Ryde!

Sandown

It’s got museums about poo and about dinosaurs, its got a pier and miles of golden sand, Sandown has got a lot going for it!

At the heart of Sandown Bay (known as The Bay area to locals), Sandown is the classic seaside town, with brilliant beaches, loads of fun things to do and is at the top of the UK sunshine leagues.

The Revetment (a seawall walk from Sandown to Shanklin) is a great way to appreciate the vistas of the bay and is best appreciated with an ice cream in hand.

The town centre has plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes.

Shanklin

One of the jewels of Sandown Bay, the town of Shanklin has long been known as a traditional holiday destination and has everything you need for a great family holiday or to go to with friends or as a couple. With lots of seafront hotels, amusement arcades and crazy golf, it is the epitome of the British beach resort.

But Shanklin these days is so much more than that.

It has a thriving town centre with a host of independent shops, restaurants and pubs and its own theatre. Then there is the history of the town, from it being the home of the poet Keats to its vital role in the Second World War.

Yarmouth

The approach from Lymington on the Wightlink ferry is perhaps the prettiest of all the Solent crossings and it is the second smallest town in Great Britain, so why not visit the characterful community of Yarmouth.

From its lovely harbour to its ancient church and picturesque pier, this West Wight town has something for everyone.

There are plenty of things to do, some great pubs, cafes and restaurants, and lots of super attractions in the area for all the family.

Many Islanders think West is Best (usually those who live there!) and it is hard to argue, Yarmouth is a very special place.

Optional Extra

Visit to Osbourne House

Get an unforgettable glimpse into the private family life of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Osborne on the Isle of Wight.

From sumptuous interiors and art collections inside, to a peaceful beach and marvellous gardens outside, a day out at Osborne has something for everyone. Explore Osborne’s vast grounds, follow the interactive tree trail and find the unusual Swiss Cottage, where the royal children played, gardened, cooked and collected unusual objects in their own private museum.

Victoria and Albert bought and built Osborne to fulfil the queen’s desire for a ‘place of one’s own – quiet and retired’. Its dazzling interiors, art collection, gardens and grounds reflect their personal passions, taste and style.

Don't miss the Terrace Deli-Bar for traditional refreshments – one of four food and drink outlets you’ll find around the estate. There are also plenty of great picnicking spots throughout the grounds, and a play area to explore.
